Collins signs extension
|
Jimmy Quinn |
Nationwide Conference side Cambridge United have extended the contract of Aidan Collins until the end of the season.
Collins joined on non-contract terms on transfer deadline day after being released by Championship side Ipswich Town and has featured in the last three games.
He has attracted interest from other Conference clubs but the 20-year-old has decided to stay at the Abbey Stadium.
Manager Jimmy Quinn told the clubs official website: "I'm delighted that Aidan has signed a contract and we've got his services to the end of the season. I think he's been our best defender since he came in and he's done very well.
"He's very dominant in the air, he's a threat in both boxes, and he's been at a top club in Ipswich Town.
"He's been a bit unfortunate with the injuries to the tendons of his knees so we have to nurse him along and he can't train every day, he has to balance it with the right amount of rest, but he's done very well and long may that continue.
"He's a fantastic addition to the team and if everything works out I hope he will stay with us next season."
