Crawley keeper could stay
|
Ben Hamer |
Crawley Town goalkeeper Ben Hamer has revealed he would be willing to stay with the Nationwide Conference side if he is not needed by Reading.
The 19-year-old's contract with the Royals runs out at the end of the season and should a new offer not be put on the table, Hamer will consider his options.
The teenage stopper has played a big part in helping the Red Devils wipe out the 10-point penalty they received for going into administration and will provide a big boost to the club should he stay at Broadfield Stadium.
Hamer told The Argus: "My agent will talk to Reading in the next week or so to see what their plans are.
"I think I have done quite well and if things didn't work out then I would like to stay. The lads have been brilliant and I have enjoyed it.
"The Conference is competitive and is much better than playing reserve football. I could have been training all week at Reading and not playing and that is a killer. Playing on a Saturday is the main thing."
Meanwhile, Cralwey have been told new winger Tyrone Berry cannot play for thirty days because he was signed outside the transfer window.
The 19-year-old agreed to join last week after having his contract cancelled by Rushden & Diamonds and was thought to be eligible as a free agent.
But only players whose deals ended before January 31 are allowed to play immediately outside the window.
