Liverpool eyeing City starlet

Premiership giants Liverpool have handed Cambridge City defender Danny Blanchett the opportunity to prove himself on a 14-day trial at Anfield.

The 18-year-old will train with the 'A' team and academy squad and can look forward to playing a number of competitive games as part of his assessment.

Signed from Ryman League Premier Division side Harrow Borough in March 2006, Blanchett was previously with two other north London outfits, Hendon and Northwood.

Manager Gary Roberts was quick to praise the technical ability of the player, who since his introduction to Milton Road almost a year ago has been a first-team regular.

Blanchett has been watched several times this season by Liverpool scouts.
