Boro trial for Midgley
Craig Midgley

Mark Patterson, manager of Nationwide North side Scarborough, has handed a trial to former Halifax Town midfielder Craig Midgley.

Midgley was released at the end of last season and if he joins the Seadogs, it will be his third spell at the McCain Stadium having twice played for them on-loan.

Patterson said: "He is a player with a good pedigree and can definitely do a job at this level. The club has been interested in him for some time."

The 30-year-old midfielder started his career as a trainee with Bradford and enjoyed loan spells with Scarborough and Darlington before eventually signing for Hartlepool in March, 1998.

He then joined Halifax in June 2001 and made 176 appearances scoring 35 goals.
