York City centre-back David McGurk is set to undergo a throat operation later this week and is expected to be sidelined for at least three weeks.

The former Darlington defender is understood to be facing surgery on Friday and is likely to miss the next three games.

Meanwhile, teenage centre-back Darren Hollingsworth - who is still to make his senior Minstermen debut - has joined Stalybridge Celtic on a month's loan.

Hollingsworth appeared in Celtic's Conference North win over Nuneaton Borough on Tuesday.
