Oxford United were spared the blushes against Southport on Tuesday night as a late penalty goal rescued a share of the spoils for Jim Smith's men.

Southport got off to a flying start, scoring the opening goal after just three minutes with Dino Maamria heading in an Alex Smith cross.

Seven minutes after the break, Southport's Daniel Kirkup brought down Eddie Anaclet in the box and Robert Duffy slotted home the resulting penalty.

Maamria restored the visitors lead in the 73rd minute but with the final whistle looming, Stephen Rowland brought Yemi Odubade down in the box and Duffy kept his nerve once again to level the scoreline.

Aldershot Town and Tamworth played to an entertaining 3-3 draw with Marcus Gayle bagging a brace for the home side.

Joel Grant put the hosts ahead in the 19th minute and Steve Burton levelled the scores two minutes before the break, with a well-struck effort from 18 yards out.

Simon Weaver put the visiting side in the lead going into the break but Marcus Gayle equalised just after half-time with a headed goal from the right side of the penalty area.

Gayle bagged his second just a few minutes later with a sweetly-struck shot from 18 yards out but it was Tamworth's Kyle Storer who had the last say, banging in a right-footed volley from 25 yards out.

Burton Albion shot up to third place on the Nationwide conference table after a late winner from Darren Stride made it 2-1 against Crawley Town.

The Brewers went ahead in the 39th minute through Aaron Webster and Crawley equalised in the 68th minute after Dannie Bulman latched onto a Jamie Lovegrove cross.

But Darren Stride scored the all-important winner in the 81st minute, after meeting a Gary Rowett cross with his head at the centre of the penalty area.

Nathan Peat curled in a long-range free-kick in the last minute of the match to earn York City three points at Northwich.

Clayton Donaldson put York ahead on the half-hour mark and Northwich came back into the game six minutes after the break when Kieran Charnock swept the ball home with his left foot from inside the six-yard box.

However Peat was to have the final say as his sublime free-kick gave York a 2-1 victory over Northwich.

Morecambe earned only their second home win this season with a superb 1-0 victory over Rushden and Diamonds.

Danny Carlton made the all-important breakthrough in the 51st minute with Michael Twiss setting him up from the left wing.

Altrincham twice came from behind to earn a 2-2 draw with Cambridge United at Abbey Stadium.

Liam Marum and Liam Richardson scored for the home side, while a Steve Aspinall penalty and a Robbie Lawton equaliser ensured that both teams earned a point apiece.

Craig Dobson was the hero for Stevenage Borough with an injury-time goal that sealed three points against Woking on Tuesday evening.

It was a seesaw encounter which saw Boro grab the lead just five minutes in when Steve Guppy crossed for Dwayne Lee to head home.

However it took just ten minutes before Woking were back in the match after Karl Murray scored a scorching 30-yard free-kick.

The visitors looked on their way to victory when Ollie Berquez fired home in the 78th minute, but when Murray handled the ball in the area John Nutter stepped up to convert the penalty for Stevenage, before Dobson headed home in time added on.

Dagenham and Redbrige closed the gap on league leaders Oxford with a 2-1 victory at Stafford Rangers.

Glenn Southam grabbed the lead for the Daggers from the penalty spot in the 22nd minute but Stafford pulled level just before the break thanks to Neil Grayson.
