Cambridge snap up Purser
Wayne Purser

Cambridge United manager Jimmy Quinn has beaten off competition from a number of clubs to clinch the signature of striker Wayne Purser.

The former Weymouth, Peterborough and Leyton Orient striker brings a good goalscoring record to the Abbey and directly replaces Liam Marum.

Purser has signed until the end of the season and will wear the number 13 shirt.

Manager Jimmy Quinn was clearly delighted with his new acquisition and said: "He's a proven goalscorer and he has the experience you need for this level and I think he's a fantastic acquisition.

"Michael Gash is ill and Liam Marum has left the club today so to get Dean Holdsworth and now Wayne Purser, things in that area are starting to look up.

"We've now got forwards with the experience we've been lacking a bit so I'm absolutely delighted they're both here."
