Burton miss out on Johnson
David Johnson

Burton Albion's hopes of capturing David Johnson have disappeared as the striker signed on at Conference North club Hucknall Town.

Johnson had been building up his fitness while training with Burton as manager Nigel Clough looked to secure the 30-year-old's signature.

But contractual issues relating to players not being allowed to move outside the transfer window put an end to any proposed move.

Johnson has thus joined Hucknall, until the end of the season, as the Conference North is not governed by the same rules.

His move to Hucknall will end his ties with Nottingham Forest where he has been helping out in a coaching capacity since September 2006.
