Nationwide North Wrap

Droylsden opened up a five-point lead at the top of Nationwide North on Saturday, although Hyde United and Kettering Town do battle on Sunday.

The Bloods made light work of another play-off contender in Farsley Celtic at the Butcher's Arms with the prolific Terry Fearns scoring twice inside 11 minutes.

Simeon Bambrook reduced the arrears with 16 minutes to go but the home side responded with two more from Gareth Morris on 65 minutes and Jimmy Kelly in stoppage time.

However, it was not such a good day for the other sides near the top of the pile on Saturday, with third-placed Harrogate Town staying in that position after only managing a 1-1 draw with a Moor Green side now in play-off contention themselves.

Hinckley United moved level on points with fifth-placed Hyde but again would not have been entirely happy with a home draw against a Gainsborough Trinity side by no means clear of relegation.

At Wetherby Road, visiting Moor Green got off to a great start when Darren Middleton put them in front after only six minutes.

But the home side replied within three minutes through Chris Ellerker and that's how the scoreline remained.

Hinckley looked to have the game won at the Marston Stadium after Colin Marrison had given them the lead right on half-time.

Then, just two minutes from time, Charlie Trout pulled Trinity back on level terms to earn them a crucial point.

Blyth Spartans' outside chances of making the play-offs look even slimmer now as Redditch United improved their chances of avoiding the drop with a fine 2-1 success at Croft Park.

The hero for the visiting Reds was Scott Rickards, who bagged a brace in the 24th and 69th minutes - the second from the spot - with Andrew Leeson netting for Spartans seven minutes from time.

Hucknall Town are also perhaps too far behind the play-off pace now, but beat Stalybridge Celtic 2-1 at Watnall Road to increase the visitors' fears at the opposite end.

Former Ipswich and Forest star David Johnson scored again for Hucknall a minute before half-time after Gary Ricketts had opened their account eight minutes earlier.

Neighbouring Alfreton Town moved level on points with Hucknall after a routine win at already-doomed Lancaster City with goals from Ryan Clarke after 18 and 26 minutes.
