Boro show faith in Stimson
Mark Stimson and Scott Barrett

Stevenage Borough have rewarded manager Mark Stimson for his sterling efforts at the club by offering him a new 12-month extension to his contract.

Both the 39-year-old Stimson and assistant boss Scott Barrett have signed one-year extensions, which will keep them at Broadhall Way until 2010.

The management pair have guided Boro into the FA Trophy final, Stimson's third in as many years, as well as play-off contention since joining from Grays Athletic last summer.

Chairman Phil Wallace told the club's official website: "I think the squad we have now and the style of play we are starting to offer our fans confirms what a great job Mark and Scott have done in less than a year.

"We're delighted with the job they've done for us so far and this is our way of showing our appreciation and confidence in our future together.

"I've always believed that once we get into the Football League, the profesional and prudent manner in which we run the club, together with the facilities we've put in place over the past six or seven years, could see us quickly climb the football pyramid.

"For this reason I believe Mark and Scott can fulfill their career ambitions at Stevenage and we're delighted to extend their contracts to try and achieve that together.'"
