Oxford 2-2 Dagenham
|
Oxford boss Jim Smith |
Oxford Utd and leaders Dagenham played to an exciting draw on Monday with Sam Sloma scoring a dramatic equaliser to earn his side a point.
The visitors broke the deadlock after just 17 minutes, when the league's top scorer Paul Benson latched onto a parried save by Oxford keeper Billy Turley and tapped in at the right-hand side of the penalty box.
Both sides looked dangerous up front but Dagenham managed to hold onto their single goal lead heading into the break thanks to a couple of good saves by stopper Tony Roberts.
Oxford came out firing on all cylinders after half-time with Yemi Odubade latching onto a flicked header by Rob Duffy and placing it in the bottom-left corner.
Odubade bagged his second of the night just two minutes later with a magical left-footed strike from about 35 yards out to send the home fans into a frenzy.
However, John Still's Daggers proved their promotion pedigree by clawing their way back into the game and snatching a 90th minute equaliser to maintain an eleven point lead over their opponents.
Oxford bookings: Odubade 73
Dagenham bookings: Griffiths 39, Leberl 57, Uddin 81
