Only six Nationwide South fixtures were played on Saturday afternoon due to a number of postponements and abandoned games in bad weather.
Matches at Havant & Waterlooville, Hayes and Salisbury City were postponed before kick off, while games between Basingstoke Town and Farnborough Town and the derby between Cambridge City and Histon were both called off.
Welling United claimed second spot on the Nationwide South table after a 2-1 win at Thurrock. Danny Kedwell bagged both of their goals, while Tobi Jinadu scored the consolation goal eight minutes from time.
Fisher Athletic moved up to third cruising to a comfortable 5-1 victory over Lewes at Champion Hill.
Leroy Griffiths opened for the home side before Ryan Hall equalised on 38 minutes. However, it was all one way traffic after that as Lenny Piper, Charlie Hearns, Griffiths and Joe Healy completing the rout.
Bishop's Stortford slumped to a disappointing 3-1 loss as Braintree Town beat them at Cressing Road.
Dave Collis opened in the 25th minute and Brad Quinton equalised before Braintree went ahead through Mark Jones. Defender Billy Burgess slotted home the third with 18 minutes left on the clock.
Struggling Eastleigh collected a much-needed point with a goalless draw at Eastbourne Borough.
Newport County edged Weston-super-Mare 1-0 at Spytty Park thanks to a 32nd minute effort from Julian Alsop.
A flurry of second-half goals saw Sutton United beat Bognor Regis Town 3-2 at Gander Green Lane.
Sutton's Louis Gonsalves broke the deadlock in the 61st minute and Tony Quinton added a second on 72 minutes. The Rocks fought back and equalised with goals from Seb Wallis-Taylor on 78 minutes and Chris Breach a minute from time.
However, defender Alan Bray was the man of the hour as he bagged an injury time winner to earn his side all three points.
