Clare handed surgery setback
Daryl Clare

Burton Albion striker Daryl Clare has undergone an operation on a shattered knuckle and is likely to miss Saturday's clash with Weymouth.

Clare sustained the injury two months ago but has put off surgery until now, with the Brewers' leading scorer on 12 goals now facing a short spell out.

"Daryl has managed to get by get with his hand strapped up," manager Nigel Clough told the Burton Mail.

"But he's been told he needs the knuckle setting properly or face the possibility of problems later in life."
