Clayton Donaldson |
Scunthorpe United have emerged as the latest club interested in signing York City's England National Game international striker Clayton Donaldson.
Wolves and Hibernian have already been linked with the 22-year-old frontman and a host of club's have been alerted by the fact that Donaldson recently turned down a new contract offer.
His current deal runs out at the end of the season and York manager Billy McEwan seems resigned to the fact that he will lose the services of his best goalscorer.
"Clayton's still got a lot to learn to develop and mature and that will come if he keeps listening, but that will not stop people coming to watch him because he's scoring goals," McEwan told the Scunthorpe Telegaraph.
"From my point of view, I don't bring players here to sell them. I bring them here to improve the standard and profile of the club.
"I've spoken to the board and they feel the same but, if somebody comes in and makes a big offer, we would not stand in his way."
