Nationwide South club Eastleigh have been dealt a devastating blow with news that striker Stuart Douglas could be on the sidelines for up to six months.
Nationwide South club Eastleigh have been dealt a devastating blow with news that striker Stuart Douglas could be on the sidelines for up to six months.
The 28-year old frontman recently went for a scan to gauge the extent of the damage on his knee and the result has been worse than previously feared.
"It's terrible news and I feel really sorry for Stu," manager Paul Doswell told the Daily Echo.
"From a team point of view, Stu is the one player who offers us something different up front.
"He's not a thirty-goal a season man, but he offers us a physical presence and can ruffle a few feathers with his workrate and commitment.
"We need an ugly lump to replace him."
However, one bit of good news for boss Doswell is that new strike signing Justin Bennett is expected back sooner rather than later.
Bennett suffered a partial tear of the knee ligaments, but should be playing again inside a couple of months.
