Burton eye Scoffham
|
Nigel Clough, manager of Nationwide Conference side Burton Albion, has set his sights on Steve Scoffham as he looks to complete his strike force before the new season.
The 23-year-old forward featured for the Brewers in their 5-1 defeat to Birmingham City at the Pirelli Stadium on Saturday and boss Clough will give him another chance to impress against Wolves.
"Steve is definitely in contention and we would like to have a longer look at him," Clough told the Burton Mail.
"He's only been able to train with us once so far, but he'll be with us this week and will play against Wolves on Saturday."
Clough missed out on long-term target Justin Richards when the forward ended his time at Woking, in favour of a switch to Peterborough United last month.
"The top strikers in the Conference have gone into the League - Justin to Peterborough, Andy Bishop to Bury and Chris Moore to Brentford," he said.
"That is an indication of how good the Conference is and we possibly have to look at players coming in the other direction.
"Steve is next in line on our list and offers something different to the players we've already got.
"He's a little bit short at the moment because he's only trained once, but we're pleased we've got him for a full week and that he's got nothing else lined up."
