York trio pen new deals
|
York City received a welcome triple boost today following the news that defender Nathan Peat and midfielders Neal Bishop and Mark Convery have each signed new contracts with the club.
Former Darlington midfielder Convery appeared in every one of the Minstermen's senior fixtures last season - making 41 starts in addition to four substitute appearances. The 25-year-old Newcastle-born star eventually finished joint-third leading scorer on six goals.
Left-back Peat (23) featured 24 times last term despite enduring an injury-plagued campaign following a summer move from Hull City. He also captained the side in the absence of Mark Hotte.
Meanwhile, tough-tackling midfielder Bishop (24) proved an instant hit following a surprise switch from local rivals Scarborough last February. The Minstermen duly celebrated his arrival by recording six straight victories, with Bishop netting on his second appearance in a 3-1 success at Exeter City before finally totalling fourteen starts.
York currently have thirteen players on contract ahead of the start of the new season :
Goalkeeper : Arran Reid
Defenders : Darren Craddock, David McGurk, James Dudgeon, Nathan Peat
Midfielders : Steve Bowey, Emmanuel Panther, Neal Bishop, Mark Convery, Byron Webster
Strikers : Clayton Donaldson, Craig Farrell, Alex Rhodes
