Woan: Closer to home

Swindon youth-team manager Ian Woan has left the County Ground to work alongside Paul Hart as first team coach at Rushden & Diamonds.

Woan will be replaced by ex-Chelsea defender David Lee and admitted leaving was a tough decision to make after nearly two years with the Robins.

However, he will now link up with two of his former Nottingham Forest teammates in Rushden manager Paul Hart and assistant boss Ian Bowyer at Nene Park.

He told Swindon's official website: "I have had a fantastic time here but my wife is due in September and with it being two-and-a-half hours from home I was staying away three nights a week.

"The chance to work alongside Paul Hart will be fantastic but this has been one of the hardest decisions I have had to make."

38-year-old Woan started his playing career at Runcorn and also plied his trade with Barnsley, Swindon and Shrewsbury.
