Halifax bring back Matthews
Chris Wilder

Halifax manager Chris Wilder has brought Tom Matthews back to the club from Championship side Hull City for his second loan spell at The Shay.

The full-back had a stint at the Conference club earlier this season but failed to make a first-team appearance, and has now been given another chance.

Matthews could even make an immediate debut at Rushden & Diamonds tonight as Shaymen boss Wilder is without Gus Uhlenbeek and Steve Haslam, who are both sidelined with injuries.

19-year-old Matthews is the son of former Halifax midfielder Mick Matthews.

In other news, striker Andy Campbell will undergo an MRI scan to determine the full extent of the knee injury he sustained in the 2-0 win over Kidderminster last week.

He is expecting to be out of action for three weeks and will be hoping the scan does not reveal worse news.
