Euro Trophy facing expansion
|
The European Challenge Trophy is set to expand with news that teams from Wales, Ireland and Northern Ireland will join the competition next year.
The Trophy was lifted by England's under-23 non-league stars last month after beating Holland 4-1 in the final game of the tournament.
The four teams competing were England, Italy, Holland and Belgium - now Wales, Ireland and Northern Ireland have expressed an interest in joining them.
"The two Irish Associations and the FAW agreed to confirm their participation by the end of March next year," the FA's Leagues Manager Mike Appleby told BBC Sport.
"We also have a few options to explore with regard to the eighth team."
