United keen on Kightly
|
Michael Kightly |
Grays Athletic chairman Mick Woodward has revealed that Premiership leaders Manchester United have mad a late bid to sign winger Michael Kightly.
The 20-year-old midfielder has put in some eye-catching performances while on loan at Wolverhampton Wanderers and is expected to complete a £125,000 permanent switch to Molineux on Monday.
However, Woodward is adamant that he will not go back on his word to sell Kightly to Wolves and it looks like Alex Ferguson will have to set his sights elsewhere for a young winger.
"United have expressed a lot of interest in Michael this week," Woodward told the Sun.
"They have made a number of enquiries.
"They asked if we could do a deal, but I told them I'd already agreed a deal with Wolves and I wouldn't go back on my word.
"Michael is an old-fashioned winger - the Ryan Giggs of non-league. He's got an eye for goal, too."
