Hill cool on Phillips talk
|
Garry Hill |
Weymouth manager Garry Hill has refused to reveal whether or not Exeter City striker Lee Phillips is a possible summer transfer target.
Phillips recently commented that he would like to rejoin Weymouth and missed City's 2-1 Boxing Day defeat to the Terras.
"I read the comments that the player has made in the newspaper," Hill told the Express & Echo.
"I was a bit worried so I phoned Paul Buckle last Friday to clear things up.
"The story has come from things the player has said and I wanted to make it absolutely clear it had not come from me or the club.
"From what I understand the situation is that he has made it clear that he wants to be at Weymouth.
"It has all come from the player and to be honest I was amazed he was not at the game on Boxing Day.
"If I was interested in any player I would always go straight to the manager first and have a conversation.
"I don't really want to get dragged into the situation as none of this has come from me and I have the utmost respect for Exeter City and would not talk about one of their players."
